Dragon Con Recap
I’ve had over a week to gather my thoughts on all things Dragon Con 2025. Dragon Con is always a one-of-a-kind experience, and this year was no different.
Let’s start with the costumes.
The costumes always blow me away at Dragon Con. There are some seriously talented people out there.
The big costumes this year were the Mime from Expedition 33 and all of the KPop Demon Hunters (even I wore a casual Mira costume).
I was a little disappointed with the panels this year, there weren’t too many actors/speakers that I really wanted to see. And the one big one, Matt Dinniman, that I did want to see, I wasn’t able to get into. Granted, we did see him free-roaming several times but were never able to catch up to him to say hello.
A unique event I did find myself at this year was a huge author event called The Gathering. It was in the basement of the Hyatt and over 20 authors sat around tables where you could chat with them and shop their books.
I met this author and she described her books as Avatar the last airbender with Dragon shifters. Immediately sold.
My two favorite costumes from this year - Disa Durin. We were walking back from this photoshoot and got stopped by a girl on the Marriott steps, who asked for a photo. I assume she immediately sent it to her friend who waited for us in the lobby and caught us when we walked by asking for another photo. She then later messaged on IG saying that she sent our photo to the actress who plays Disa, Sophia Nomvete. How cool is that? I wish she had sent one of our better photos but here we are.
And of course, Nadja. This was fun because it was a group costume and we had all the players, Lazslo, Nandor, Collin Robinson, The Guide, and Gizmo. But even without the others, I just had fun in this getup! I dreaded making this, I thought it would be my most difficult costume, but I ended up breezing through it in a single evening.
There’s so much to recap but I think I’ll leave it there. Until next year.
