First Day of Fall & Hobbit Day

You may know that today is the first official day of Fall, also known as the Autumn Equinox or Mabon for our witchy friends. But, did you know that today is also Hobbit Day and Bilbo Baggins Birthday?

This past weekend, I attended a Hobbit Day event, the Party of Special Magnificence, held in Anderson, South Carolina.

The event has contra dancing, sweet treats, a potato-themed dinner, a potato contest, and a Gandalf, among other things. It’s a day of festivities, food and drink, and just laying about, just as the Hobbits would prefer.

It is costume mandatory.

And I have to point out that my toile corset is actually a UFO alien abduction print. I couldn’t help myself.

So happy birthday, Mr. Baggins. And welcome to fall, y’all.
